How did the U.S. get involved?

During the war, Serbs bombed and killed hundreds and thousands of people.

"This soon resulted in calls for military intervention against Serbs and Bill CLinton, New president in United states, promised to end ethnic cleansing ( genocide) in Bosnia during his coampaign" (The History...).

“N.A.T.O (North Atlantic Treaty Org.) Forces responded by launching limited air strikes against Serbs ground positions.” (The History...).

When there was over a quarter of Bosnia dead by 1993 the US took action by sending military troops as peacekeepers in central Europe.

After the Dayton Peace Accord was signed and official, the US used military troops to make sure Dayton agreements are being fulfilled.

"SFOR continues the mission of monitoring and enforcing the military aspects of the Dayton Peace Accords….” (Bowman).

“54,000 troops total were sent to central Europe to supervise the marking of boundaries and Zones of Separation, monitor and enforce withdrawals of forces, and to establish Joint Military Commissions.” (Bowman).
